Are You Prepared for An Emergency?

Wildfires, hurricanes, and earthquakes are just a few of the disasters experienced in the United States. These types of emergencies can produce fear and cause overall anxiety with the disruptions they can bring. Because natural disasters will always be part of life, preparing for them can better our response, speed up recovery time, and reduce the anxiety and stress.

Here are some best practices to prepare for an emergency:

n Find out what types of emergencies occur in the areas where you live or work.

n Research what to do for each type of emergency.

n Sign up for electronic services (such as National Weather Service) to receive emergency alerts and warnings where you live, work, or vacation.

n Refresh your home emergency preparedness kit.

n Practice your family or household communication plan.

n Know your evacuation routes at home and work.

n Verify contact numbers in your mobile device are current.

n Ensure your electronic devices are fully charged.

n Keep your vehicle fueled.

n Store emergency cash in case loss of power affects the ATM.

You and your loved ones are worth the short investment of time and resources to plan for emergency events. See the following resources for more information:
