IMM Revision: Individual Country Listing for Rwanda

Effective November 2, 2023, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for Rwanda in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to note the inclusion of certain addressee contact information on every item destined to Rwanda.

This revision is based on a formal request that the National Post Office (Iposita, the designated postal operator of Rwanda) made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 169, dated October 2, 2023.

Observations

[Revise the entry to read as follows:]

On every item destined to Rwanda, the National Post Office (Iposita, the designated postal operator of Rwanda) requests that the mailer include both the addressee’s email and mobile telephone number (if available) on the customs declaration form, address label, or wherever possible. The mobile telephone number enables Iposita to notify the addressee via short message service (SMS) before delivery.

Although effective November 2, 2023, the Postal Service will incorporate this revision into a later edition of the online IMM (after the one scheduled for November 6, 2023). The IMM is available via Postal Explorer® at pe.usps.com.
