Stop and Think Before You Click on Fraudulent Websites

Fraudulent websites are found on the internet daily. In fact, during the first quarter of 2024, more than 963,000 unique fake websites designed to replicate real ones were identified (statista.com/statistics/266155/number-of–phishing-domain-names-worldwide).

Visiting these websites that have malicious content on them can have extreme consequences, including data theft, financial loss, and exposure of personally identifiable information (PII).

The Postal Service™ is asking employees and contractors to stop and pause when visiting websites.

To help keep employees safe when online, the CyberSafe at USPS® team suggests the following tips, which you can also find on the CyberSafe Do’s and Don’ts Flyer.

Do:

n Type website addresses directly into the address bar and bookmark them as a favorite.

n Double-check that you are on the correct website by carefully reviewing the website address.

n Stop and think before providing personal information on websites.

n Report suspicious activity to the Cybersecurity Operations Center by emailing cybersafe@usps.gov or calling 866-877-7247.

Don’t:

n Assume that online browsers like Google and Yahoo always navigate to real and safe websites.

n Click on suspicious links or attachments.

n Share your employee identification number, password, or multifactor authentication codes with anyone.
