USPS Stresses Importance of Filing Change of Address (COA)
WYNNE, AR — The Postal Service wants to ensure all customers continue to receive their mail and packages following impacts from tornadoes in March and April, especially in areas where long-term recovery time is expected. This is true for any customers affected, but is particularly critical for residents in Wynne and the surrounding areas.
The mail never stops moving and, every day, the Postal Service is handling mail, correspondence, packages, prescriptions, flats, catalogs, assistance checks, and other items sent via U.S. Mail.
Because U.S. Mail can be put on hold from three days to up to 30 days, customers who are unable to return to their residence at this time, have the following options:
If impacted customers have not done so already, they should immediately take the critical initial step of filing for a Change of Address (COA) with the Postal Service to ensure they can receive uninterrupted and accurate mail delivery service.
Customers who will not be able to occupy their home within 30 days should submit a temporary Change of Address (COA) request with the Postal Service. Be sure to mark “Temporary” on the card/online form. A temporary change of address is designed for customers who plan to return to their residence within six months.
Customers who are not planning to return to their residence should submit a permanent COA request.
Filing a COA is easy. Customers can request a COA form from their letter carrier or visit their nearest available Post Office. COA requests can also be filed online at: https://moversguide.usps.com. Customers can also reach USPS through our Customer Care Centers at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, and Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST.
Customers are reminded that they must finalize the identity verification process at the retail counter once a COA has been completed. A customer who mails a hardcopy COA request without going through the proper identity validation at the retail counter will receive a letter directing them to go online or to an RSS location for in-person proofing.
