SAN FRANCISCO — To ease the hustle and bustle of getting your holiday shipments in the mail and on their way, certain San Francisco City and Peninsula Post Offices in the San Francisco postal district will be open for full retail services on two Saturdays in December, the 7th and 14th 2019. With the busiest week projected to be December 16-22, the extra hours help customers dashing to the Post Office to get their shipments in the mail.

More than 2.5 billion pieces of mail, including 200 million packages, are expected to be processed and delivered during the week of December 16-22. Traditionally, what used to be the busiest day of the year has morphed into the “busiest week,” largely driven by an increase in online shopping.

“We want to reduce the stress that comes during the busiest time of the year,” said San Francisco District Manager Raj Sanghera. “We’ve added more days and hours for our customers to bring us their mail so they have just one less thing they have to worry about. It’s all about Priority Yule!”
