Will Be Opening in its New, Improved Location on Sept. 24
SAN DIEGO - The Imperial Post Office will be relocating to a new location on Friday, Sept. 24. The office, currently located at 116 N. Imperial Avenue, will be moving to an upgraded location seven blocks away, at 820 N. Imperial Avenue.
The move will allow Postmaster Jennifer Gonzalez to better serve her 600+ PO Box customers and her retail customers. “Our new facility will feature additional customer amenities such as parcel lockers as well as expanded parcel pick up service,” said Gonzalez. ““This move demonstrates the Postal Service’s commitment to the city of Imperial and to every community in the U.S.
“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Imperial.”
In order to facilitate the move, the Imperial Post Office will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 23. During this closure, there will no access to its PO Boxes and retail operations will temporarily cease. Imperial customers seeking postal retail services on Sept. 23 should visit the El Centro Post Office, the nearest alternate USPS facility.
The retail hours of the relocated Imperial Post Office will remain the same, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. It is closed on weekends.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
