BIG BEAR CITY – Chris Italia was recently named the Postmaster of the Big Bear City Post Office.

He replaces former Big Bear City Postmaster Ruben Lemus, who transferred to another USPS facility.

As Big Bear City Postmaster, Italia supervises seven employees and oversees retail services at the Big Bear City Post Office and the daily distribution of mail on four delivery routes and to 3,000 PO Boxes at his facility.

Italia is an eight-year postal employee who began his career as a mail carrier and most recently served as a customer service supervisor at the Highland Post Office.

I’m honored and thankful to have been selected for this great opportunity,” said Italia. “I hope to continue the Postal Service’s legacy of outstanding customer service, to foster teamwork and communication, and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.

“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in the biggest cities or smaller communities such as Big Bear City, Fawnskin and Sugarloaf.

“I want to express my gratitude to my family and to my mentors for their support and guidance over the years. I’m also grateful to the leadership team at the USPS San Diego District office for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”

Italia was born and raised in Monrovia, and currently resides in Wrightwood. He is a graduate of Monrovia High School and Mount San Antonio College, where he earned an associate’s degree in Fire Science.

Italia’s hobbies include spending time with his wife and son, hiking, video games and yard work.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations
