Pahala Post Office Retail Lobby to be Closed Temporarily

Facility Impacted by Big Island Earthquakes; PO Box Services Not Impacted

PAHALA — The retail lobby of the Pahala Post Office will be closed indefinitely as a result of damage to some of its interior light fixtures caused by this morning’s Big Island earthquakes.

The Pahala Post Office is located at 96-3163 Pikake Street, Pahala HI 96777.

Because the Pahala Post Office’s PO Box lobby was not impacted, mail delivery to the facility’s 600+ PO Box customers will continue without interruption.

The retail lobby will reopen as soon as postal management has determined that the facility is safe for its employees and customers.

During this temporary closure, customers in Pahala requiring retail services are asked to visit the  Naalehu, Hawaii National Park or Volcano Post Offices.

We apologize for any inconveniences that this temporary closure causes and appreciate our customers’ understanding and support,” said Pahala Postmaster Gina Gomes. “The safety of our employees, customers and the mail are our top priority. We will reopen our retail lobby as soon as we possibly can.”

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
