Manages USPS Services in Abbeville and Perry
ABBEVILLE, LA – "I am excited to serve Abbeville and will work hard to make my customers' experience with the Postal Service great," says newly appointed Postmaster Paula Hargrave. "I grew up here and still live here in Abbeville."
The 21-year postal veteran says she started her career as a mail handler in Lafayette. "From mail handler, I was recognized by management at the plant and was asked to work as an acting supervisor."
Hargrave became a supervisor of distribution operations in Lafayette and trained to be a customer service supervisor. "I worked at the Lafayette Bertrand Post Office before a Supervisor of Customer Services opening in 2007 in Abbeville," she says. "I became Abbeville Postmaster in May 2022."
Hargrave also served nine years in the Army Reserves, including active duty in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
As postmaster, she is responsible for 40 employees and approximately 30,000 deliveries. "I also run a remotely managed post office in Perry."
So how is Hargrave “Delivering for America?” "I want our customers to know we work hard to provide them with great service and a quick resolution on any issues,” says Hargrave.
"I would like businesses here and home internet businesses to know that we can help promote their business or help with their shipping needs," she enthuses. "If anyone needs help, please call me, and I will get you in contact with someone that can help you with all your needs."
The postmaster is currently married to Jeanne Hargrave. "I have a beautiful daughter Brooklyn Weekly and four great stepdaughters, Jackie Guidry, Rae Ann Buford, Theress Guidry, and Katie Mailhes."
Hargrave says she enjoys fishing, crabbing, gardening, and archery. "I love being outdoors and all the activities you can do outside."
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
