Michigan’s smallest Post Office is located in Elm Hall
Alma, MI — Each day, the United States Postal Service takes pride in Delivering for America. As part of our “We Go Everywhere Man” series, we highlight Michigan’s smallest Post Office in Elm Hall, Michigan 48830.
“The Post Office is what makes Elm Hall a community,” says Postmaster Mindy Barnwell. “A ZIP Code and a Post Office is the heart of the community, and we are proud to serve our customers.” Along with the Elm Hall Post Office, Barnwell is also the postmaster for offices in Alma, Riverdale, and Elwell.
The Elm Hall Post Office is a retail unit where local customers can buy stamps, ship and mail packages, and purchase other Postal Service products and services. It is open Mon. – Sat. 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. One employee, Tanya Christie, relief postmaster, provides service in the small lobby.
There are two Cluster Box Units (CBUs) located on either side of the building with 32 boxes available for rent.
One rural carrier, working out of the Riverdale Post Office, delivers mail to the Elm Hall community.
“Though this may be one of the smallest post offices,” said Barnwell, “We have a huge commitment to excellent customer service.”
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
