Postal Service Stresses Importance of Filing Change of Address (COA)
SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — The Postal Service wants to ensure all customers receive mail and packages following impacts from Hurricane Ian, especially in areas where long-term recovery time is expected.
This is true for any customer affected, but is particularly critical for people residing in:
Bokeelia (33922); Captiva (33924); Fort Myers Beach (33931 & 33932); Pineland (33945); Saint James City (33956); and Sanibel (33957).
The mail never stops moving and every day, the Postal Service is handling mail, correspondence, packages, prescriptions, flats, catalogs, assistance checks, and other items sent via U.S. Mail.
All customers impacted by Hurricane Ian should immediately take the critical initial step of filing for a Change of Address (COA) with the Postal Service, to ensure they can receive uninterrupted and accurate mail delivery service. Here are options for customers:
Customers who will not be able to occupy their home within 30 days should submit a temporary Change of Address (COA) request with the Postal Service. Be sure to mark “Temporary” on the card/online form. A temporary change of address is designed for customers who plan on returning to their residence within six months.
Customers who are not planning to return to their current address should submit a permanent COA request.
Filing a COA is easy. Customers can request a COA form from their letter carrier or visit their nearest available Post Office. COA requests can also be filed online at: https://moversguide.usps.com.
Customers can also reach USPS through our Customer Care Centers at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). The hours of operation for the Care Centers are Monday – Friday 8 AM – 8:30 PM ET and Saturday 8 AM – 6 PM ET.
