INDIANAPOLIS, IN — This year, the Postal Service’s revered Operation Santa program is being offered in Warsaw, IN. Postmaster Beth Jungels is very pleased there has been such a generous response, and would like our customers to know that the deadline for adopting letters has been extended to Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. 

In 1912 when Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock authorized local postmasters to allow postal employees and citizens to respond to the letters — this became known as Operation Santa.

If you would like to adopt a Letter to Santa from a child or family for the holidays, you can pick up the letters at the Warsaw Post Office, 365 W Market St, Warsaw, IN 46580 and help make the season brighter for others.

“As of today there have been a total of 13 families’ and children’s letters adopted,” said Jungels. “Our goal is to help as many people as we can experience the magic of the holidays, so that’s why we have extended the deadline to Dec. 19, so everyone will have a chance to adopt a letter and grant a wish for a child or family in need,” she said.

“I am proud to represent the Postal Service in this once-a-year effort to carry out the legacy started long ago,” Jungels said.

Customers may adopt letters between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday through Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018.
