Proposed Relocation Prospect, KY Post Office

What:

The U.S. Postal Service mailed a postcard to the impacted Prospect community, announcing a proposed relocation of the Prospect, KY Post Office currently located at 9532 US Highway 42, Prospect, KY 40059. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Background:

Due to a loss of lease at the current facility, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail and delivery location within the 40059 ZIP Code. The desired size of the new facility needs to be one of the following: for retail and delivery (a) an existing building that is approximately 7,726 net square feet with 65+/- dedicated parking stalls; or to split operations (b) an existing building that is approximately 3,666 net square feet with 27+/- dedicated parking stalls for retail only and (c) an existing building that is approximately 5,197 net square feet with 42+/- dedicated parking stalls for delivery only.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location(s), as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current Post Office or in a nearby Post Office until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

The Postal Service will also post information related to the relocation in the lobby of the current Post Office.
