Spokane Media Invited to Tour USPS Mail Processing Center on Tuesday, November 29

USPS is Ready to Deliver the Holidays with Newly-Installed Machines

What:

Rare behind-the-scene media opportunity to view USPS holiday mail processing operations

As part of our 10-year Delivering for America plan, the Postal Service is investing $40 billion to modernize its operations, including investments to accommodate growing customer demand for package delivery. The Postal Service continues to remain "Holiday Ready" by proactively thinking ahead to provide more predictable service to our customers in advance of the much-anticipated holiday season. In addition, the plan includes $20 billion going towards our mail and package processing network, including USPS facility space upgrades and procurement of new processing equipment.

We’d like to invite you to visit the Spokane Processing and Distribution Center on November 29, 2022, to see these processing machines in action.

When:

Tuesday, November 29, at 4:00 p.m. (Arrival time begins 3:45 P.M.)
Please RSVP to lecia.a.hall@usps.gov  to coordinate your arrivals and interview.

Where:

Spokane Processing & Distribution Center
2928 S. Spotted Road
Spokane, WA 99224-9997

Background:

Spokane Plant Manager Earl Eisenrich and his team will share information on the sorting machines and what it means for our customers. Personnel will be available for interviews in Spanish.

With this investment, the Postal Service is ready for the holiday season.

Please be aware that you will be entering our processing facility and proper footwear is required. Please avoid heeled shoes and pumps. Ensure that you are wearing closed-toed (preferably leather) shoes that are non-slip.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
