Postal Service honors San Francisco-based company with industry award at the National Postal Forum

Financial district business recognized for best practice

SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) recognized multi-carrier shipping platform Shippo for innovation and industry best practices; one of only 14 companies total nationwide. The award was presented on the final day of the National Postal Forum in Indianapolis last week, the largest annual trade show in the country for the mailing industry.

The USPS awards were presented to customers in two categories: the Mailing and Digital Innovation Award, recognizing customers who find creative methods to use the mail to drive significant business results and mail growth; and the Shipping and eCommerce Innovation Award, honoring customers who implement new technologies to maximize efficiencies, and convert purchase and fulfillment requests into package volume.

Shippo, located in San Francisco’s lower financial district, received the Shipping and eCommerce Innovation Award among other similar companies in the Postal Service’s Pacific Area, which comprises the state of California and Hawaii.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the USPS for our work supporting growing businesses,” said Laura Behrens Wu, CEO of Shippo. “When we founded Shippo, our goal was to improve the experience for any business that ships by making it more accessible. Today, our partnership lets businesses of any size connect directly with the USPS within minutes—and also access valuable, timely information from a variety of other carriers— all from one place.”

Shippo is the leading web app for marketplaces, warehouses, and growing e-commerce businesses. Businesses are able to instantly access multiple shipping carriers for real-time rates, shipping labels, international paperwork, package tracking, and return logistics. More than 35,000 customers worldwide trust Shippo to streamline and optimize their shipping.

An early partner of the USPS ePostage program, Shippo enables any business to access USPS shipping services online. This was the first license of this type issued since 1999, marking an important step for both the USPS and Shippo as they drive innovation in shipping for e-commerce. Shippo helps growing businesses navigate the complexities of shipping to meet high consumer expectations around fast, seamless delivery.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
