Houtz Takes Over as Cabazon Postmaster

Manages Retail, Delivery & PO Box Services for Cabazon, Whitewater

Amy Houtz, Cabazon Postmaster

CABAZON – Amy Houtz was recently named the Postmaster of the Cabazon Post Office.

In that position, Houtz manages four employees and oversees retail services at the Cabazon Post Office and the daily distribution of mail on two delivery routes in Cabazon and Whitewater and to 1,100 PO Boxes at her facility.

She replaces former Cabazon Postmaster Helena Becerra, who moved to another postal facility.

Houtz is a six-year postal employee who began her career at the Palm Springs Post Office and most recently served as a supervisor at that facility.

I’m proud to have been selected for this position and grateful to be rewarded for my efforts,” said Houtz. I hope to further the Postal Service’s legacy of outstanding customer service, such as the recent addition of passport services at our facility, and to contribute to the overall success of the organization.

“As outlined in USPS’s Delivering for America plan, we are modernizing and continually adapting to the changing needs of our customers. Our customers are priority one, whether they’re located in a major metropolitan area or smaller communities like Cabazon and Whitewater.

“I want to express my gratitude to my Palm Springs colleagues for their guidance, to my postal mentors for believing in me, and to the leadership team at the USPS San Diego District office for giving me this opportunity.”

Houtz was born and raised in Fremont, graduated from Washington High School and Ohlone College, and currently resides in Palm Desert.

Her hobbies include spending time with her family, hiking, soccer and going to the movies.
