Crystal Lake, IL Post Office Building Renaming Ceremony

Act of Congress designates facility as “Ryan J. Cummings Post Office Building.”

CHICAGO, IL — The Crystal Lake IL Post Office will have its building named in honor of Cpl. Ryan J. Cummings, USMC at a ceremony, Sunday, June 4 at 11 a.m. The program is open to the public.

On December 27, 2022, legislation to designate the Post Office building located at 301 East Congress Parkway in Crystal Lake, Illinois, as the “Ryan J. Cummings Post Office Building” was signed into law by the President. This legislation was introduced in the United States House of Representatives by Representative Sean Casten.

Joining Rep. Casten at the ceremony will be USPS Central Area Vice President, Eric Henry, acting Illinois 1 District Manager, Jewel Morrow, Post Office Operations Manager Ben Giese, Postmaster, Romeo Ramos of Crystal Lake, Mayor of Crystal Lake, Haig Haleblian, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Chairman, Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 and John Cummings, father of Ryan J. Cummings.

Cpl. Ryan J. Cummings died on June 3, 2006, from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. A purple heart was awarded to his family. Cpl. Cummings was 22 at the time of his death.
