Mailbox Improvement Week, May 19—25

Don’t forget to spruce up your mailbox during Spring cleaning

Mailbox Improvement Week, May 19—25

OMAHA, NE — USPS wants customers to spruce up their mailboxes during Mailbox Improvement Week, an annual campaign that will be observed this year from Sunday, May 19-Saturday, May 25. The Postal Service network delivers to more than 158 million addresses every day. Customers can assist their mail carrier by ensuring their mailbox is fully operational, safe to use, conveniently located and large enough to hold their daily mail and packages.

Neat and attractive mailboxes make a significant contribution to the countryside and streets in suburban areas. Mailbox Improvement Week calls for attention to the need for providing mailboxes that are:

  • Approved by the Postmaster General.
  • Fully operational.
  • Designed to protect the mail from weather.
  • Safe to use.
  • Conveniently located and away from pets.
  • Neat in appearance.
  • Large enough to support the customer’s daily mail and package volume.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
