Collection Boxes in the Area Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal or remove Postal Service collection boxes on Friday, Jan. 28, in New York City.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible on Friday, Jan. 28.  

Impacted collection boxes will be reopened on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 29.

Please note this is a tentative list that is subject to change as additional information is obtained from the NYPD and other law enforcement sources.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

  • Any/all USPS Collection boxes around Saint Patrick’s Cathedral (5th Avenue between 50th/51st streets).
  • Both sides of 5th Avenue between 54th Street and 34th Street
