Postal Service Looks to Customers to Assist with Snow Storm

Clearing Access to Mailboxes Aids Carrier Safety

PORTLAND — Oregon post offices are asking customers to help keep Letter Carriers safe by clearing access to mailboxes as soon possible following heavy snow fall.

“We want our carriers to return home healthy each night,” Portland District Manager for the USPS Bill Schwartz said.  “The cooperation and assistance of our customers will go a long way toward keeping our carriers safe and ensuring mail delivery each day.”

Postal customers who receive door mail delivery should ensure their sidewalks, steps and porches are free of ice and snow,  Customers receiving street side mailbox or centralized cluster neighborhood mailboxes can assist their carrier by having a safe and clear path to their mailbox.
