Background:

The Postal Service will present the Postmaster General Hero Award to local Letter Carrier Michael Brindle for his heroic actions. On October 11, 2019, Brindle was delivering to the Community College of Allegheny County when he noticed an employee there with a medical emergency. Brindle found the employee on the floor with no pulse and immediately administered CPR. Brindle continued aid to the employee until emergency services arrived. Tragically, the employee did not make it through the event.  Michael Brindle went above and beyond the call of his regular duties and did everything he could during the crisis. The Physical Plant Supervisor issued a letter of gratitude to the Postal Service announcing Brindle’s heroic efforts. Brindle resides in Allison Park.

The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
