Shannon Myers is Northport, Washington’s Newest Postmaster

Shannon Myers

Shannon Myers began her postal career more than five years ago as a carrier in Laurier, Washington. Before becoming the postmaster for Northport, Wash. she worked as a clerk, sales and service associate instructor, and on the job instructor in Northport, as well as serving as the postmaster in Ione, Wash.

She says her most rewarding position so far has been as the Ione postmaster because she was able to improve community relations and project a positive view of the postal brand by customers.

“Being an instructor for postal clerks was also a high point. I really enjoyed getting to know employees from all over the district and mentoring them in their careers. Two former students and my former clerk in Ione have gone on to become postmasters themselves. “

Myers’ passion for customer service and being a friendly and welcoming face for the USPS in her community, exemplifies one piece of the Postal Service’s “Delivering for America” (DFA) 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence.

She knows many people count on the Postal Service and she does her part for the DFA, “By making sure we deliver every piece, every day. Many rural customers in this remote area rely heavily on USPS. They get everything from groceries and medications to home improvement and school supplies in the mail..”

Myers was born and raised in west Texas. She studied marketing at the University of Texas – Austin and held a few different jobs such as copywriter for the local ABC television station, co-owner of a gas meter repair shop, and a licensed home inspector. She also worked as an elder caregiver in Washington.

Postmaster Myers is married. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, canning and preserving.
