Veterans Day is Special for the Postal Service

EDISON, NJ— As part of the Postal Service’s Veterans Day observance, Post Offices will be closed and only Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Monday, November 11. Normal mail delivery, collections, and retail services will resume on Tuesday, November 12.

Veterans Day holds special significance for the Postal Service since the agency is one of the nation’s largest employers of military veterans. Of the nationwide postal workforce of 640,000, approximately 100,000 postal employees, including 717 in Northern New Jersey, have served in the armed forces.

Post Offices may be closed on Veterans Day but online job applications are still being accepted for vacant positions on the federal holiday. New Jersey postal officials are encouraging veterans to apply for current job openings in Morris, Hudson, Monmouth, and Burlington Counties.

Applications are being accepted through November 11 for City Carrier Assistant, seasonal help, and Tractor Trailer Operators. For additional information and to apply, log onto USPS.com. Click on “Careers” in the lower left hand corner of the homepage and search for positions by geographic location and functional area.

Job seekers are encouraged to regularly check the USPS.com/careers webpage as it is updated frequently with numerous job opportunities.
